ANTIQUE – The 60-day automatic price ceiling (APC), put in place to address the economic impact of Severe Tropical Storm “Tino” (“Kalmaegi”), will be lifted on January 5, 2026, an official of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) said.
Implementation of the APC is provided for under Republic Act (RA) No. 7581, otherwise known as the Price Act, to maintain the prices of basic necessities and protect the consumers, DTI-Antique Trade and Development Specialist Arnel Oliveros said.
“The APC has only a 60-day period,” he said.
Oliveros said they expect the DTI Central Office to issue a new Suggested Retail Price (SRP) once the APC is lifted.
Meanwhile, Oliveros said they have not observed any panic-buying among consumers while the APC is in place, citing ample supply of commodities.
“The stores had already anticipated the demand for Noche Buena products and they have readied their goods to be sold,” he said. (PNA)
