BACOLOD City – The city government is awaiting the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) to schedule the conduct of a dry run for two green routes.
Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez said eight e-jeeps will be plying the proposed green or developmental routes, or from barangays Vista Alegre and Cabug to the downtown area, and vice versa.
Benitez added that the e-jeeps will be provided to the operators, who just have to form a cooperative to continue operations.
Unconsolidated traditional jeepneys have only until April 30, 2024 to operate if they fail to secure a provisional authority from the LTFRB.
The local chief executive further said that a Chinese-Korean company is willing to provide their e-jeeps to these operators through a lease agreement.
The fare in an e-jeep will be the same as with modernized jeepneys because a fixed rate will be set, the mayor explained.
A charging station will be provided by the city government in the meantime, Benitez noted.
