BACOLOD City – To fast-track the doling out of financial assistance to every Bacolodnon, this city will start the implementation of the “Bayad Agad” program.
The program is particularly designed for when the city government provides immediate cash assistance to individuals in crisis situations, according to Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez.
Benitez assured those in need that the money, after they have completely submitted their requirements at the Department of Social Services and Development (DSSD) office, will be given within the day.
The city mayor said the DSSD is in charge of the distribution of the assistance, and the very same office is designated to facilitate and accommodate the recipients.
The local chief executive created this kind of program after learning that some of the recipients have yet to receive their financial assistance due to paperwork, among other reasons.
“Tam-an kadugay sang mga social services; they take a long time. Naghimo kita sang paagi nga, on the same day, they can get their financial assistance, amo na ang bayad agad,” he claimed, adding, “Instead nga mahulat sila semana ukon binulan, ini iya inoras lang ara dayon,”
Specific guidelines for the program are yet to be released, but the mayor said beneficiaries are likely to be getting P3,000 to P5,000 from the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation fund.
The local chief executive clarified that other financial assistance, like for fire victims, in which the amount is higher and requires in-depth validation, is not covered by the “Bayad Agad.”
“Kay kadamo man bala sang naga-abuso sang financial assistance, ang iban naga-kaapektuhan. Amo na aton dilemma, ang procurement system is designed nga napabudlayan guid para indi maabuso,” he explained./PN
