Bacolod City gears up security for Holy Week

BACOLOD City – Security preparations are up for the upcoming Holy Week and Easter Sunday here, including the strict enforcement of health protocols, according to the Task Force Disiplina (TFD) of the city government.

Included in its coverage are resorts, churches and malls, among other public spaces.

According to TFD action officer Wilfredo Geolingo, people would most likely go on vacation during the first days of April.

City Ordinance (CO) No. 926 series of 2020 made mandatory the wearing of facemasks and face shield in public, and the observance of social distancing.

“We will issue citation tickets to violators,” said Geolingo.

Violators may face a fine of P200 or eight hours of community service for every breach.

For non-residents of this city, violators shall be penalized with a P300 fine each time.

In another development, resort owners in Barangay Punta Taytay assured the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) that they will strictly enforce health protocols during the Holy Week.

Barangay Punta Taytay had a huge influx of visitors during Holy Week in the past years.

The BCPO said it would deploy personnel in beaches and viewing decks after establishment owners told them they have no capacity to control the crowd, a usual concern.

According to the establishment owners, they will strictly observe the 50 percent allowed capacity in every venue./PN
