Bacolod city hall employees to receive bonus

BACOLOD City – The city government is set to release the performance-based bonus (PBB) for all qualified employees.

According to Atty. Caesar Distrito, spokesperson for Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez, the city is ready to release the PBB once the Department of Interior and Local Government releases the appropriate guidelines.

The Singcang-Airport punong barangay and former city councilor explained yesterday that the law requires that the guidelines be released first. This is to avoid having the employees return the incentive consequential to the absence of the guidelines, he added.

Benitez wants to avoid such a situation, the spokesperson further said.

The budget for the incentive will be sourced from the general fund of this year’s allocation.

“Mayor Albee made sure that there was an allocation for the PBB in the current budget and assured the employees that they would release it once the guidelines were available,” Distrito said.

The PBB is a new incentive given to government employees based on their performance and contribution to the accomplishment of their department’s overall targets. This is different from existing bonuses in government, which are given to employees across the board, regardless of their performance./PN
