BACOLOD City – This city has a new confirmed case of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) – a 69-year-old male from Barangay Villamonte.
Cong. Greg Gasataya announced this Wednesday on his Facebook post, saying the latest patient (Western Visayas Patient No. 54) passed away on April 9. This brings the metro’s tally to eight.
He was admitted at the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital (CLMMRH) that day after suffering from diarrhea for two days, but died a few hours later. His swab results came out on April 21, indicating he was positive for the viral disease.
“Ang palamangkotanon kun paano kag sin-o ang naglaton sa iya kay wala siya nagagwa sa ila balay. At the time, ara na ang Bacolod sa second week sang enhance community quarantine,” Gasataya said.
The recent case came more than two weeks after Bacolod has not reported any COVID-19 case since April 4.
Gasataya also said that a three-month pregnant nurse was also initially tested positive for COVID-19 through rapid testing.
However, a confirmatory test will still have to be done in Iloilo.
Barangay Villamonte village chief Rommel Flores, for his part, said he already coordinated with the City Inter-Agency Task Force against COVID-19 after learning that there was a confirmed case on his area, specifically at Purok Sabes.
“The City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office conducted immediately the disinfection to the said purok specially that the area is thickly populated,” said Flores.
He recommended placing the area under lockdown and isolate the patient’s family members./PN
