BACOLOD City – A resident of Barangay Taculing in this city was back in jail after he was arrested for firing at a police officer in Barangay Singcang-Airport on Monday afternoon, April 28.
Alias “El Niño”, 33, is facing charges for violation of Republic Act (RA) 10591 in relation to election gun ban and grave threat.
Officers of the Police Station 1 led by Captain Francis Depasucat was about to execute the buy-bust operation in Purok Maghiliugyon, Barangay 35 at the time. While the police poseur buyer and his confidential informant were approaching the suspect, the latter fired at them and hurriedly fled.
The suspect entered a house in Barangay Singcang-Airport. After cordoning the area the suspect surrendered upon peaceful negotiation.
Police recovered from him a caliber .45 firearm with magazine containing seven rounds of live ammunition.
The suspect was previously arrested in 2019 for violation of RA 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, police added./PN
