ILOILO – The Department of Agriculture (DA) Region 6, in collaboration with the National Food Authority (NFA), assured the public that the rice to be sold at P20 per kilo is of good quality.

In a radio interview, DA-6 spokesperson James Earl Ogatis said the people should not worry about the quality of rice because it goes through the proper process.

Tama gid ka fit for human consumption,” Ogatis said.

The NFA, he said, follows strict measures and precautions to ensure that the quality of rice to be rolled out poses no risk to human health.

DA-6 added that they are in support of the NFA by providing them with support facilities like dryers and hauling trucks to ensure that it will not degrade the rice quality.

The P20 per kilo rice program is part of the campaign promise of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. that will benefit poorer households, easing the financial burden on millions of Filipino families while ensuring rice farmers receive fair compensation for their harvests./PN
