BACOLOD City — The city government here is set to extend financial assistance to fisherfolk and farmers who were severely affected by Typhoon “Tino,” which struck the city on November 4, 2025.

Officer-in-Charge Maricar Quiro of the City Agriculture Office (CAO) said the assistance will be sourced from the city’s local funds under the Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) of the Department of Social Services and Development (DSSD).

A total of 340 beneficiaries, including fisherfolk and 20 rice and corn farmers, are expected to receive cash aid.

The city has allocated P3.4 million for the program, which will cover qualified beneficiaries whose primary sources of livelihood, such as pump boats and farming equipment, were severely damaged by the typhoon.

The beneficiaries are from Barangay Banago; Barangays 1, 2, 12, 13, and 14; and the barangays of Pahanocoy, Punta Taytay, Singcang-Airport, Tangub, and Villamonte.

DSSD head Richelle Verdeprado-Mangga said the CAO conducted data gathering and damage assessment in coordination with the Department of Agriculture to identify eligible recipients.

Verdeprado-Mangga added that the schedule of the payout has yet to be finalized as the processing of documents for the beneficiaries is still ongoing.

Quiro explained that those qualified to receive the cash assistance are fisherfolk and farmers whose livelihood equipment sustained damage ranging from 75 to 100 percent due to the typhoon.

She emphasized that the city government prioritized the affected sectors to help them recover and resume their livelihood activities as soon as possible./PN
