BACOLOD City – Complaints from residents about uncollected garbage on major streets, subdivisions and barangays since the holidays prompted Mayor Evelio Leonardia to lambasted the city government’s garbage hauler, IPM-Construction and Development Corp., for below-par performance.

“It was unacceptable. Even I was surprised,” Leonardia said.

The IPM-CDC management explained that some of its employees went on a holiday break.

According to Leonardia, however, IPM-CDC still has the responsibility as the city’s official garbage collector to collect the garbage.

“I told them, this cannot continue. They are under contract with the city and as such, they must do what is expected of them,” the mayor said.

He encouraged residents to report any further problems the IPM-CDC might have overlooked.

“The Mayor’s Office is always open for the people of Bacolod. If you see any lapses, call us so that we can address the problem at the soonest time possible,” Leonardia said./PN
