PRO-6: No reports on cops into illegal drugs

ILOILO City – The Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) said it has not monitored police officers getting involved in illegal drugs.

“One of the reasons is the strict implementation of our internal cleansing program. Gina-monitor gid ang activities sang aton kapulisan indi lang sa drugs kundi tanan nga ilegal,” said Police Lieutenant Colonel Arnel Solis, PRO-6 spokesperson.

The neutralization of drug groups also helped, he said, such as the Odicta, Prevendido and Bolivar drug groups.

When the Odicta and Prevendido drug groups were in operation, there were reports about some policemen giving protection to them.

This year, the Regional Drug Enforcement Unit (RDEU) of the PRO-6 seeks to dismantle three more active drug groups in the region.

RDEU chief, Police Major Mark Anthony Darroca said these three drug groups are operating in Negros Occidental, specifically Kabankalan City, San Carlos City and Bacolod City.

The RDEU also focuses on high-value / high-impact drug suspects, said Darroca.

In 2021, the PRO-6 arrested 1,999 drug suspects – 1.67 percent higher than 2020’s 1,966.

In 2020, 1,548 anti-drug operations were conducted, resulting to the arrest of 1,966 suspects and the confiscation of shabu and marijuana with a total value of P154 million.

Last year, 1,582 antidrug operations were carried out resulting to the seizure of shabu and marijuana valued at P86 million – nearly 50 percent down from 2020’s.

“Ang mga drug dealers gamay ginabaligya. Hadlok sila magkuha dako nga stock kay madasig sila ma-arrest tungod madasig man ang monitoring sang ila activities,” said Solis./PN
