Bacolod holds voters’ registration in malls

BACOLOD City – The Commission on Elections (Comelec) in this city is urging those who have yet to register for the May 2022 polls to visit the city’s satellite registration sites as early as possible.

Voters’ registration resumed yesterday and will last until the end of the month.

According to city election officer Kathrina Caña, satellite registration is held in the following:

* SM City-Bacolod until Oct. 13

* Ayala Malls Capitol Central on Oct. 14, 18 and 19

* Robinson’s Place-Bacolod from Oct. 20, 21 and 22

Registration starts from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Comelec-Bacolod will also tap the University of St. La Salle if they can host voters’ registration.

Caña, on the other hand, urged would-be voters to complete their requirements prior to registration.

On the first day of the voters’ registration resumption yesterday, Caña noted that several applicants brought incomplete requirements.

Wala bitbit nga mga requirements, wala photo copy sang ila nga ID (identification card) which naga-cause sang delay sang registration process,” she said.

Aga pa kami naga-ugtas because wala sang requirements ang nagakadto. Naga-uyang sang amon tyempo… Natinguhaan man namun nga makatemprano para indi man sila ayawan pila and yet amo man gihapon ang nagakatabo,” Caña lamented.

The applicants must bring their IDs with photocopy, and birth certificates for those 18 to 19 years old.

For those who do not have an ID, they could bring a guarantor and photo copy of their ID.

Barangay certificate and police clearance will not be accepted, said Caña.

Meanwhile, in the recently-concluded filing of certificates of candidacy here, five candidates are seeking the position of congressman, two for mayor, three for vice mayor and 39 for councilors./PN
