BACOLOD City – The Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital (CLMMRH) is demanding the Philippine Health Insurance Corp. to pay its debt amounting to P129,497,432.60.

CLMMRH chief Julius Drilon said they “badly” need the money to sustain the hospital’s daily expenses.

Citing their updated receivables, Drilon said PhilHealth owes the hospital P66,141,346.60 in 2018, P52,032,590 in 2017, and P11,323,496 in 2016 and the previous years.

PhilHealth interim presidentCelestina Ma. Jude Dela Serna is now under fire after the Commission on Audit (COA) questioned her 2017 travel expenses worth P627,000 to and from Tagbilaran City in Bohol and Manila.

The expenses include plane fares, terminal fees and accommodation fees, based on COA’s audit observation memorandum (AOM) dated April 18.

They were not in accordance with a COA circular on the disallowance of irregular expenditures, the auditors said.

“Irregular expenditures are incurred if funds are disbursed without conforming with prescribed usages and rules of discipline. There is no observance of an established pattern course, mode of action, behavior or conduct in the incurrence of irregular expenditure,” part of the AOM reads. (With a report from ABS-CBN News/PN)
