BACOLOD City – The Inasal Festival will now be held on every fourth weekend of May, according to Councilor Cindy Rojas.
Rojas, co-author of the ordinance, said they amended the City Ordinance No. 482, or the Bacolod Inasal Festival to reflect the change in the event’s schedule held every first week of May.
“The first weekend of May falls a week before election, so ma alang-alang kita kay may banning kita,” the festival chairwoman explained.
She added that they are now finalizing their preparations for the festival.
Last year, the first festival was held in the first week of May on Araneta St. where about 300 meters of grill were roasting chicken.
“We decided to change the date to avoid conflict of the activity,” she said.
This year, the city government will implement some changes and improvements to the celebration.
Rojas noted they will still tap the chicken inasal vendors in the city to participate in the event./PN
