MANILA – Taekwondo jins from the Bacolod City-based Hanah Taekwondo stable won two gold medals during the 2018 MVP Best of the Best Taekwondo Championships at the Ayala Malls South Park in Alabang, Muntinlupa City.

Mary Angeline Alcantara of Living Stones International School captured gold and was hailed the Most Valuable Player on Sunday after sweeping all of her matches in the junior women kyorugi event.

Alcantara first defeated Kristine Gaerlan of Diliman Preparatory School 18-0 before taking down Shyendler Cedo of Philippine Christian University-Dasmariñas Powerkicks 8-1.

A gold medal winner in the 2017 World Championship Cadet, Alcantara then ousted Alexandra Nesle of Angeles University Foundation 21-7 before defeating Abigail Faye Valdez in the finals 17-7.

Joshua Emmanuel Deita, meanwhile, won gold in the grade school boys kyorugi category.

Deita scored a 10-4 victory over Jonas Sales of Baguio Defender in the quarterfinals.

He then defeated Ramon Luistro 22-17 in the semifinals and outscored Derek Poyagen of Baguio Bravehearts in the finals 26-5./PN
