Bacolod journo files P10-M countersuit against lawyer

BACOLOD City – Negros Press Club former president Dolly Yasa filed a complaint of malicious prosecution against a lawyer who tagged her as among 11 suspects in the Talisay City ambush last December 2018.

Yasa seeks P10 million in damages. She filed the complaint Friday last week against lawyer Erfe del Castillo at the City Prosecutor’s Office.

Del Castillo’s accusation, according to Yasa, had no basis.

She added that implicating her in the ambush caused her “physical stress and psychological strain.”

In her complaint-affidavit, Yasa also stated that her work as a journalist was adversely affected as she refrained from attending press conferences and avoided media gatherings.

Earlier in February, del Castillo filed murder charges against Yasa and several others over the ambush which claimed the life former police officer Efren Palmares, del Castillo’s fiancé.

The murder and frustrated murder case filed against Yasa and three others were dismissed by the Talisay City Prosecutor’s Office for lack of probable cause.

Del Castillo, on her part, said “let her (Yasa) do what she wants. Murder case prescribes in 20 years. I can still file a murder charge against her again.”/PN
