BACOLOD City-This city has lifted the liquor ban after the National Inter-Agency Task Force(NIATF) downgraded the alert level system of this city from Alert Level 2 to Alert Level 1, effective March 1 to 15, in consideration of the coronavirus disease-2019(COVID-19) pandemic.
But, the curfew hours are still being imposed previously, it was from 11 p.m. to 4 a.m., and now it is being modified from 12 midnight to 4 a.m., according to Executive Order(EO) No. 9.
Mayor Evelio Leonardia explained that the local government unit has been given some degree of discretion, what we’re trying to do is to have a smooth and slowest transition.
“Indi kami gusto nga mag gulpi kambyo klima nga basi kon wala ta kabalo kon ano matabo, this way after all two weeks lang man ini, even the capacity sang mga venues wala namun gin all out all of the sudden,” he said.
The mayor cited from the 70 percent venue capacity previously we only make it to only 80 percent, while the 50 percent it is now in 60 percent.
“That should serve a way of adjustment, people will bear with that after all being in Alert Level 1 is already something so reassuring,” Leonardia said.
This only proves that our policies and practice must have been hitting the targets because in Western Visayas only three local government units were under Alert Level 1, but in the whole Philippines, there were only about 38.
The EO No. 9 was issued by Leonardia on Feb. 28, that declares Bacolod City to be under Alert Level 1 according to the guidelines on the nationwide implementation of Alert Level System for COVID-19 response, to take effect from March 1 until March 15, unless further modified by the NIATF to either a more stringent category, or downgraded, or lifted as warranted by circumstances./PN
