BACOLOD City – Several barangay captains clarified that they do not plan to oust Liga ng mga Barangay president Noli Villarosa.
All they want is for Villarosa (Tangub) to hold a general assembly and give updates on Liga’s activities and finances, the 19 village chiefs led by Liga vice president Tanya Familiaran (13) told a news conference yesterday.
Villarosa reportedly claimed several barangay captains are holding a signature campaign for his ouster and looking for his replacement.
Yesterday the 19 barangay captains, who are allied with Mayor Evelio Leonardia, told reporters the Liga has not had a general assembly since Villarosa was elected president in January 2014.
Villarosa is allied with Leonardia’s political rival, former mayor Monico Puentevella.
Villarosa has not reported on how the Liga has been using the annual fees the villages pay or written barangay captains about Liga programs and activities, they claimed.
“The Liga is (supposedly) a place where all barangay captains can discuss concerns regardless of political affiliation,” they said.
If Villarosa does not heed their request, the complaining barangay captains said they will write him again and the Sangguniang Panlungsod, where he is an ex-officio officer, said Alfredo Talimodao (Granada).
Aside from Familiaran and Talimodao, other barangay captains at the meeting are Rodney Carmona (Sum-ag), Noel Libo-on (Pahanocoy), June Mark Carpio (28), Leah Palma (Punta Taytay), John Mark Patiere (30), Vemver Ray Buenafe (Alijis), Jose Ma. Leandro De Leon (Vista Alegre), Arnel Benjamin (Banago), Alexander Diamante (Taculing), Angelito Abaring Jr. (Bata), Rosinie Distrito (Singcang), Remus Dely Sr. (6), Ramon Jardin (Felisa), Ronnie Serano (9), Juan Zonuel Malayang (Cabug), Mylene Dewara (8), and Arturo Parreño (Mandalagan)./PN
