BACOLOD City – This capital city added two more confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) yesterday – its lowest single-day case recording since July.
The two infections were both local transmission, according to City Administrator Em Ang, executive director of the Emergency Operations Center Task Force (EOC-TF).
In fact, only one COVID-19 case was considered new because the other one was a repeat test result, Ang said.
“We are definitely on track to significantly reduce the case count versus last month. We are hoping and praying to God that this development would continue,” said Ang.
It was earlier last month when Bacolod registered a record-high of 273 confirmed COVID-19 cases in a day.
As of Oct. 27, the city had 372 active COVID-19 infections. The number of deaths, on the other hand, stood at 122.
Key to break the chain of transmission of the infectious disease is to practice the minimum health standards even at home, Ang reiterated.
Meanwhile, Mayor Evelio Leonardia met the 118 contact tracers during an orientation at the New Government Center lobby on Oct. 26.
They were part of the second batch of contact tracers hired by the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) to further expand and strengthen contact tracing efforts in the city.
The first batch was composed of 89 contact tracers.
According to Leonardia, contact tracing is the heart of the EOC and is a big help in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.
