BACOLOD City — Mayor Greg Gasataya has reminded all Bacolod City Hall employees to strictly wear their prescribed office uniforms while on duty, stressing professionalism, accountability, and pride in public service.
The reminder was issued during the flag-raising ceremony on January 5, the first Monday of the year, where Gasataya pointed out that regular employees have no reason to disregard the policy, as the city government provides a P6,000 annual clothing allowance.
The mayor explained that uniform compliance was not strictly enforced when he assumed office on June 30, 2025, since the clothing allowance had already been released before his term, leaving employees with limited funds to immediately comply.
Gasataya, who won the May 2025 national and local elections, defeated former vice mayor El Cid Familiaran.
In his message, Gasataya emphasized the importance of easily identifying city employees, particularly those assigned in the field.
“Dapat kon empleyado ka sang syudad sa Bacolod, dapat mabal-an nga empleyado ka sa Bacolod. Pwede ka man ka pa-gwapa kag pa-gwapo, basta importante kon ara sa field, mabal-an nga empleyado ka sa syudad sang Bacolod,” he said.
He added that wearing the prescribed uniform should complement the use of official identification cards issued by the city government. “Waay labot sa ID, dapat naka-uniform guid,” the mayor stressed, noting that proper attire reflects pride in one’s workplace. “Unless nga nahuya ka, indi ka mag-uniform,” he added.
Gasataya said he has already discussed the matter with department heads to ensure consistent implementation across all offices.
Meanwhile, the city government has begun enforcing the revised dress code issued by the Civil Service Commission (CSC) under Memorandum Circular No. 16, series of 2024.
Under the guidelines, employees are required to wear ASEAN-inspired attire on the first Monday of the month and Filipiniana-inspired attire on the second to fourth Mondays to promote cultural identity. From Tuesdays to Fridays and on weekends, employees must wear the prescribed agency uniform or smart casual attire if no uniform is designated.
City officials reiterated that strict adherence to uniform and dress code policies is essential in maintaining discipline, professionalism, and a positive image of public service in Bacolod./PN
