BACOLOD City – Health officials are keeping a close watch on 20 individuals due to their recent travel history from countries with alarming spike in cases of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
The persons under monitoring (PUMs) – 19 Filipinos and a foreigner – arrived in the city last Friday, according to Dr. Grace Tan, chief of the City Health Office’s (CHO) Environment and Sanitation Division
She said that of the 20 PUMs, 13 came from Icheon, South Korea; one from Singapore; four from Malaysia; one from Japan and another from Thailand.
Tan clarified that all PUMs are not confined at a hospital, but they are monitored while being quarantined in their respective houses.
Tan said that this city has no more patients under investigation.
She added that CHO is checking everyday these 20 PUMs in order to know their health status.
“We don’t need to admit them because they are just for monitoring within 14 days from the day they arrived here, and they came from countries which are not restricted for COVID-19,” Tan emphasized.
She said that some of them arrived on Feb. 24 and others on Feb. 26 and 28./PN
