BACOLOD City – Local officials and residents have the chance to pay their last respects to former mayor Oscar “Oca” Verdeflor.
Verdeflor’s remains will lie in state at the Bacolod City Government Center lobby Friday, Dec. 2 until the interment Saturday, Dec. 3.
A mass at 4 p.m. Friday will start the wake. A necrology service will follow at 5:30 p.m. Vigil starts at 7 p.m.
On Saturday another mass will be held at 9 a.m. before the burial 10:30 a.m. at the Rose Lawns Memorial Park in Barangay Bata.
That day all Philippine flags in state buildings here will be flown at half-mast, in accordance with the Flag and Heraldic Code of the Philippines.
Verdeflor, who served as city chief executive from 1998 to 2001, died of septic shock on Nov. 21 in a private hospital here. He turned 80 on April 3.
His remains lied in state at their residence in City Heights Subdivision, Barangay Taculing before its transfer to city hall./PN
