BACOLOD City – Police authorities confiscated more than P14 million worth of suspected shabu and arrested two suspects during a high-impact anti-illegal drug operation in Barangay 3, this city.
The buy-bust operation was conducted by Police Station 2 of the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) with assistance from the City Drug Enforcement Unit following weeks of intelligence gathering and surveillance on the suspects’ alleged involvement in illegal drug activities.
The operation, carried out at around 2:59 a.m. on May 23, 2026, in Purok Camonsil, Barangay 3, resulted in the arrest of a high-value individual (HVI) identified only as alias “John,” 29, a painter and resident of Barangay 3, and a street-level individual (SLI) identified as alias “Mark,” 34, a construction worker from Barangay Cabug here.
Authorities seized approximately 2,100 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated street value of P14.28 million.
Police said the suspects were apprehended immediately after allegedly completing a drug transaction with undercover operatives.
Recovered from the suspects were several knot-tied plastic sachets and pouches containing suspected shabu, marked money consisting of one genuine P1,000 bill placed atop boodle money, and a backpack believed to have been used during the transaction.
The suspects are currently under the custody of Police Station 2,facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002).
The Police Regional Office–Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR) described the operation as a significant accomplishment in its intensified anti-drug campaign and reiterated its commitment to dismantling illegal drug networks operating in the region.
Brigadier Gen. Romano V. Cardiño, acting PRO-NIR director, commended the operating units for the successful operation and reaffirmed the police force’s commitment to sustaining intelligence-driven and high-impact anti-illegal drug operations aimed at ensuring safer communities across the Negros Island Region./PN
