Bacolod poll officer assigned in Iloilo City

BACOLOD City – The Commission on Elections executive director Jose Tolentino Jr. has signed the reshuffling order of election officials last week. City Election Officer Mavil Sia was assigned in Iloilo City.

Sia said she received the directive a week earlier but she appealed for an extension to accomplish some unfinished work in her Bacolod office.

According to Sia, the reshuffling will entail “big adjustments” for her.

Bacolod has more registered voters than Iloilo – with 312,000 in its 61 barangays.

Iloilo City has 296,000 registered voters in its 180 barangays.

The reshuffling directive was in view of the forthcoming May 13 midterm elections.

The campaign period for senatorial and party-list representative candidates began on Feb. 12. It will end on May 11, two days before the Election Day.

Meanwhile, the campaign period for members of the House of Representatives and regional, provincial, city, and municipal officials is slated from March 30 to May 11./PN
