Bacolod SP OKs committee chairpersons

BACOLOD City – The 12th Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) here approved the appointment of committee chairpersons during its inaugural regular session held on July 2.

A total of 33 committees and their respective chairpersons were unanimously approved by the council.

The approved committee assignments are the following:

* Councilor Jude Thaddeus Sayson – committees on agriculture and fisheries; appropriation and finance; and cooperatives and livelihood

* Liga ng mga Barangay President Lady Gles Pallen – committee on barangay affairs

* Councilor Al Victor Espino – committees on education; laws, ordinances, and good governance; and urban planning, development, and basic facilities

* Councilor Roberto Rojas – committees on energy and public utilities; and trade, commerce, and industry

* Councilor Homer Bais – committees on environment and ecology; and slaughterhouse and veterinary services

* Councilor Psyche Marie Sy – committees on fire and disaster management; public works and general services; and police, security, and jail

* Councilor Atty. Caesar Distrito – committees on government assets; human resource and development; ways and means; and Persons with Disability (PWD) Affairs

* Councilor Em Ang – committees on health and sanitation; and culture and arts

* Councilor Wilson Gamboa Jr. – committees on human rights; and veterans and history

* Councilor Jason Isidro Villarosa – committees on information and communication technology; and tourism, local, national, and international cooperation

* Councilor Israel Salanga – committees on labor, management relations and overseas workers; and social services and development

* Councilor Celia Matea Flor – committees on market; senior citizens; and women, gender, and family

* Councilor Atty. Dindo Ramos – committees on transportation and traffic; and urban poor, housing, and resettlement

* SK Federation President Danna Marie Barzo – committee on youth, SK affairs, and sports development

* Vice Mayor Claudio Jesus Puentevella – committee on legislative-executive conference liaison

Following the approval of the committee assignments, Mayor Greg Gasataya made a courtesy visit to the session hall and introduced his executive team to the members of the council.

He was joined by City Administrator Atty. Mark Mayo, City Legal Officer Joseph Karol Chiu, and secretary-to-the-mayor Atty. Marty Go, along with his executive assistants: Arlene Memoria, Jovelyn Dato-on, Ayesha Joy Villaflor, Atty. Rhett Demonteverde, April Rose Mayo, Patrick Lacson, Angelo Angolo, Richard Chiu, Jan Paolo Aguila, Leo Bentinganan, Peping Villanueva, ret. Col. Levy Pangue, Aaron Bais, Atty. Carlos Auxtero III, Ricky Malala, Princess Ella Olmilla, and Jonathan Diaz.

In his address to the council, Mayor Gasataya reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to full cooperation with the legislative branch.

“My commitment to each and every one of you is clear. We are offering true partnership to the legislative branch. That is why I am directing all departments, executive assistants, and the entire executive branch to provide full support to the city council in terms of their legislation. No ifs, no buts. Let’s help them, so they can deliver the best policies for the people of Bacolod.”

Gasataya also highlighted the importance of unified governance, noting that the collaboration between the executive and legislative branches is vital for effective service delivery./PN
