BACOLOD City – The Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) ratified the contract between the city government and IPM-Construction and Development Corp. (IPM-CDC) for garbage hauling and collection services.

Eleven members of the city council voted “yes” for the ratification at the SP session hall in the Bacolod City Government Center.

However, Councilor Ricardo Tan, the only one who opposed, said the contract amount was “excessive.”

The contract has a P148,388,285 budget covering the period April to December 31 this year.

IPM-CDC is the contractor for the same service in the city from January to March this year.

The 11 councilors who voted in favor of the contract were Caesar Distrito, Em Ang, Cindy Rojas, Elmer Sy, Dindo Ramos, Renecito Novero, Bartolome Orola, Noli Villarosa, Wilson Gamboa Jr., Ana Marie Palermo, and Sonya Verdeflor.

“The performance of IPM-CDC is good. The feedback from the public is positive. Barangay officials are satisfied,” Distrito said.

Councilor Claudio Jesus Puentevella, on the other hand, was out of the session hall so he was not able to cast his vote.

IPM-CDC was also the lone bidder for the management of the city sanitary landfill in Barangay Felisa, with a P71,984,261.26 bid.

The contract was not yet awarded to the company contrary to what was previously reported in this paper.

Bids and Awards Committee chairman said a technical working group is conducting a post-qualification of the documents that the IPM-CDC has submitted on Tuesday’s bidding./PN
