BACOLOD City – The City General Services Offices (GSO) is sprucing up the three public cemeteries here in preparation for All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day on Nov. 1 and 2.
GSO head Jerome Solinap said they have finished the clean-up and clearing of Burgos and Handumanan cemeteries.
The cleaning of Barangay Granada cemetery is expected to be completed this weekend.
The GSO is assisted by the City Engineer’s Office and the city’s Clean and Green team in the clean-up operations.
GSO assigned caretakers to the three public cemeteries to assist those who might fail to locate the tombs of their loved ones.
They are tasked to accommodate the complaints and to address the problems that may arise, he added.
The Public Order and Safety Office will also monitor the public cemeteries to prevent residents from sleeping inside the compounds.
Earlier, Mayor Evelio Leonardia formed Tasked Force All Saints’ Day to monitor and facilitate in the implementation and regulation of public markets, plaza, and cemeteries during the observance of the November 1 and 2 events.
Memorandum No. 181 dated October 24 designated Executive Assistant Ernesto Pineda as chief coordinator.
Pineda is working with the City Legal Office, Bacolod City Police Office, and Bacolod Traffic Management Office to ensure the proper implementation and regulation and in maintaining of peace and order during the events. (PNA)
