Bacolod to give P6-M aid to Taal-hit areas

BACOLOD City – The local government unit of this city will send P6 million worth of financial assistance to areas affected by the Taal Volcano eruption.   

Mayor Evelio Loenardia said saw they urgency to extend aid to the municipalities, particularly the most affected areas of Taal volcanic activities.

The financial assistance, according to Leonardia, will be given through the Department of Interior and Local Government or the League of Cities in the Philippines.

“They are the ones to determine which areas really need such assistance,” he said, adding the fund will be sourced out from the City Disaster Risk Reduction Office.

Leonardia also said that rhe fund will be released as soon as the city council passes a resolution for the said financial assistance, he added.

Meanwhile, Negros Occidental governor Euegenio Jose Lacson disclosed that the province will give a financial assistance worth P1 million to the areas affected by the said eruption particularly in the areas declared under the state of calamity.

Aside from that, the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOCPPO) director, Colonel Romeo Baleros also encouraged the members of the provincial police force to donate a portion of their rice allowance for the victims of the recent eruption in the amount of P325 each to be collected to 1,971 NOCPPO personnel./PN
