KALIBO, Aklan – Negros Occidental’s capital city of Bacolod will host this year’s Visayas Area Business Conference.

The conference will be in August. It is organized by the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI).

Frank Carbon, chief executive officer of the Metro Bacolod Chamber of Commerce and Industry, announced this during a meeting with other PCCI chamber members at the Marzons Poolside Lounge in Kalibo over the weekend.

“We are expecting that around 500 businessmen all over the Visayas region will attend [the conference],” said Carbon. “The venue will be at the SMX Convention Center in Bacolod.”

He added that Bacolod has a “success story” that would inspire other urban areas in Visayas.

The PCCI meeting discussed matters about the upcoming Visayas-wide conference, according to PCCI-Aklan president Ramel Buncalan.

Buncalan also said they discussed “concerns that would further boost the economy of Aklan.”

“Among these is our call for the national government to fast-track the planned construction of the Kalibo-Lezo bridge,” Buncalan added.

PCCI National Representative Grace Madrella and PCCI-Western Visayas head Donna Rose Ratilla were also present in the meeting./PN
