Fake cigarettes put man behind bars

MURDER SUSPECT. One of the most wanted persons in the country has been arrested in Barangay Magdungao, Passi City, Iloilo. The 39-year-old murder suspect Jhon Padernal of Barangay Alimono, Passi City was caught at around 2:50 p.m. on June 17, 2018 after 16 years of eluding policemen. He was taken to the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group regional unit in Camp Delgado, Iloilo City.

BACOLOD City – For allegedly selling fake cigarettes, an Iloilo City resident was arrested in Isabela, Negros Occidental, a police report showed.

He was the 30-year-old Joselito Onglato Jr. of Barangay Veteranz Village, Iloilo City, said municipal police head Chief Inspector Ruben Pajarito.

Onglatco was caught at the municipal public market at around 1 p.m. on Monday.

Recovered from his possession were several rims of fake cigarettes branded as Mighty, Marvel and Camel estimated to be worth P14,960.50, police said.

Onglatco was supposed to sell the fake cigarettes to Vine Malabor, who owns a store at the public market.

Onglatco was detained at the Isabela police station lockup facility.

He was facing charges for violating Republic Act 8293, or the Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines./PN
