MANILA – Volleyball fans from Bacolod City will also have the chance to see Ateneo Lady Eagles and Perlas-BanKo Lady Spikers play live in an exhibition match on Aug. 21.
Bacolodnon fans clamored for this game, especially that some of the players from the squads were from their city, event organizer Ruding Villaruz said.
Kassandra and Candice Gequillana of Lady Eagles were both alumni of St. John Institute while Lady Spikers’ Gizelle Tan was from University of St. La Salle.
“For a long time, Negrense volleyball fans have been wanting for Ateneo Lady Eagles to play here (in Bacolod), and I am glad to announce that it will finally happen this August,” said Villaruz.
Also playing for Lady Eagles are Jhoanna Maraguinot, Bea de Leon, Madeleine Madayag, Kat Tolentino, Pauline Gaston, Jennelle Lo, Julianne Samonte, Bettina Abella, Ana Gopico, and Deanna Wong.
Listed for Lady Spikers are Amy Ahomiro, Sasa Devanadera, Suzanne Roces, Kara Acevedo, Jorella De Jesus, Amanda Villanueva, Kathy Bersola, Mae Tajima, Jemenea Ferrer, and Nicole Tiamzon.
“I am inviting all Negrense volleyball fans. This is a rare opportunity,” said Villaruz, who organized the De La Salle University-Ateneo alumni volleybelles exhibition match last year.
A day before the exhibition game in Bacolod, Lady Eagles and Lady Spikers will face off in Iloilo City at the University of San Agustin gym as part of the 80th Iloilo City Charter Day celebration.
Tickets for the Iloilo and Bacolod exhibition matches will be made available this week.
