MANILA – Bacolodnon gymnasts from MK Gymnastics scored a follow up to their success in the Mexico-based International Rhythmic Inter-Club Online 2020 with a strong showing in the South Africa-based Regina Rhythmic Gymnastics Online competition recently.

Matthea Given Efenio of Bacolod Tay Tung High School ranked first in the ball apparatus and second in the Individual All-around for 2009 age group. The 11-year-old captured gold in the rope category (10 to12-year-olds) during the Mexico tilt.

St. Scholastica’s Academy’s Bianca Isabelle Celis, meanwhile, settled Rank 2 in the ball apparatus and in the Individual All-around for 2007 age group category. The 13-year-old nabbed bronze in the rope category (13 to15-year-olds) in Mexico tourney.

Kiana Marie Alagaban, also of Bacolod Tay Tung High School, settled third in the ribbon and ball category and fourth in the individual all-around category. The 16-year-old garnered a bronze medal in the ball category (16-and-up division) in the Mexico event.

Other Bacolodnon gymnasts who competed in the tournament were St. Scholastica’s Kryztahl Jade Manalo, Bacolod Tay Tung’s Jilian Krishna Dela Cruz, Mansilingan Christian Academy’s Zeeva Alexandra Arnoco and Annicka Zoe Chua.

The MK Gymnastics team was mentored by Kris Joy Leeping and Lady Liza Deles in the international competition that gathered around 156 gymnasts from 32 clubs in 12 countries.

“This achievement brings pride and glory, not just to the province of Negros Occidental, but the whole country as well,” said Leeping.

“I feel grateful for all the hard work they put in every time they train,” she added. “Amidst this current pandemic, we still found ways and devised strategies on how to train and prepare our gymnasts for the competition, in accordance with the guidelines set by the IATF.”/PN
