ILOILO City – The local government unit of Badiangan has helped promote the town’s local products and support the livelihood of local producers and planters in the municipality.
Badiangan municipal information officer Fe Martinez said that the Badiangan Pasalubong Center, where local products are displayed and sold, has helped local producers and cooperatives promote their products and increase their sales
“We take pride in the local products that are being displayed and marketed in the center,” she said.
Promoted Local products include bolo, hablon, instant ‘tahu’ or ginger tea, banana crackers, and even organic farm products from Ephrathah Farms.
“Aside from being purchased as souvenir items or ‘pasalubongs’ these local products are also used as tokens or gifts for guests during festivals and other significant town activities,” she said.
She said that various local cooperatives and producer associations including the Badiangan Ginger Planters and Producers Cooperative displayed their products in the center.
“These local producers have been beneficiaries of skills training from the Department of Labor and Employment and the LGU helped facilitate these trainings,” she also said.
Martinez also added that these local products have helped attract tourists to visit their municipality. (JCM/LTP/PIA-Iloilo)
