BACOLOD City – Police were still trying to determine who killed a laborer in Bago City, Negros Occidental and why.
Riddled with gunshots, Jilbert Quiapo was found around 1:30 a.m. yesterday in Purok Mainuswagon, Barangay Atipuluan, Bago City.
His wife, whom the police did not identify, said she last saw her husband leaving their house to buy liquor around 8 p.m. on Wednesday.
The 30-year-old Quiapo and his wife lived in Purok Dahlia, Barangay Abuanan, BagSaveo City.
A few hours later, the wife told the police, she heard what she thought were bursts of gunfire but did not mind.
Ruby Sueco, 37, of Purok Masinadyahun, Barangay Atipuluan, her brother and her son were walking on the road when they found the lifeless body of Quiapo, said Chief Inspector Joeffer Cabural, Bago City police head.
Based on their description, Quiapo was bending over, with his knees, arms and face on the ground, and blood oozing from his body, Cabural said.
Police said the body was taken to a hospital in Bago City and then to a morgue for an autopsy./PN
