Bakhaw drug bust nets P100T shabu, 5 suspects

ILOILO City – In Barangay Bakhaw, Mandurriao district, a police antidrug operation led to the arrest of six people, including a former village councilman.

Sixteen sachets of shabu worth P100,000 and drug paraphernalia were seized during the operation on Saturday night.

Chief Inspector Engelbert Banquillo, Mandurriao police head, said they and the City Drug Enforcement Unit of the Iloilo City Police Office conducted the operation at 9:30 p.m.

Operatives barged into the house of Matthew Mark Miranda after a drug transaction with the former kagawad.

Aside from Miranda, also arrested were villagers John Rey Arorong, Jerwin Locsin and Connie Denosta.

Police identified the two other suspects as 15-year-old and 14-year-old boys from Barangay Baybay Tanza, City Proper.

Miranda sold to undercover officers a sachet of shabu for P4,100, police said.

Operatives said they caught Denosta inside the house’s comfort room snorting the illegal drug and the minors, who have just finished using as well, hanging out inside the house.

All the suspects were taken to the Mandurriao police station./PN
