ILOILO – A senior citizen died while three others were injured when an elf truck loaded with bamboos turned on its side in Barangay Magsaysay, Maasin town around 1 p.m. on Monday, May 8.
The 60-year-old Felipe Galache of Barangay Bolo, Maasin was with two helpers who were sitting on the bamboos at the back of the truck. He was declared “dead-on-arrival” at the Maasin Rural Health Unit.
Meanwhile, sustaining injuries were truck driver Norlito Perante, 58, of Barangay Nagba, Maasin, and helpers Kennedy Perante, 32, and Mercedita Pedato, 62, both from Barangay Bolo.
The driver lost balance of the vehicle because, in addition to its heavy load, the road is curved and slippery, according to Police Captain Jayson Mausig, officer-in-charge of the Maasin Municipal Police Station (MPS).
“Kurbadahon kag dulhugon na ang karsda rason nga posible wala nasarangan sang salakyan ang bug-at sang karga nga kawayan, nawad-an ini sang balanse kag nagtakilid,” said Mausig.
The road is also accident-prone, added Mausig./PN
