ILOILO City – A fruit vendor stabbed a barker in Barangay Magsaysay, City Proper.
If 21-year-old Brian Chua of Barangay General Hughes-Montes, City Proper were to be believed, the 22-year-old Carmelo Flagne of Barangay Rizal Ibarra, City Proper stole his mobile phone on Feb 14.
Chua, the fruit vendor, admitted chasing and stabbing Flagne on the chest.
Flagne was rushed to St. Paul’s Hospital Iloilo.
Around 1:30 a.m., according to Chua, Flagne entered his fruit stand then took the phone and ran away.
Chua surrendered to Police Station 1 after the stabbing.
Flagne earned a living by “barking” – inducing commuters to board public utility vehicles such as jeepneys, taxis, vans and buses for a fee from the drivers. Regulation Ordinance No. 2014-194, however, has outlawed this practice./PN
