Bryan Bolivar, 29, Carlito Espilla, 27, and Ariel Belgira, 23 – all residents of Barangay Patag, Barotac Nuevo – sustained gunshot wounds.
Police arrested two suspects – Joel Casumpang, 26, and brother Remar John, 28, both of Barangay Agcuyawan Calsada, Barotac Nuevo. They were detained at the municipal police station.
The incident happened at around 12:10 a.m., police said.
Bolivar was hit on the right chest, Espilla on the left foot and Belgira on the stomach.
They were taken to the Don Jose S. Monfort Medical Center Extension Hospital in Barotac Nuevo where they were undergoing treatment as of press time.
The victims were on board motorcycles and bound for home when the brothers, on board a separate motorcycle, waylaid them, police said, citing accounts from a witness they identified only as “Carwin.”
A commotion ensued among them when the brothers ran out of bullets, a companion of the victims, Anjolino Batisla-ong, told the police.
The Casumpang brothers attempted to escape but their motorcycle crashed, said the Barotac Nuevo police.
A spent cartridge of a .45 pistol, a bullet of a still unidentified caliber, a Samsung smartphone, and a .38 revolver and with fired cartridges were found at the crime scene.
