BCPO arrests suspect in Bacolod motorcycle theft

BACOLOD City — The Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) arrested a suspect in connection with the reported theft of a motorcycle in the vicinity of Lessandra Heights, Camella Homes Subdivision, Barangay Bata, Bacolod City, on August 15, 2026.

The incident was reported at around 6:30 a.m. after the motorcycle owner discovered that his vehicle was missing from where it had been parked near his residence.

According to the initial police investigation, the victim, with the assistance of a neighbor, reviewed available closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage to determine what happened.

The footage reportedly showed an unidentified individual taking the motorcycle earlier that morning.

The victim later searched for the missing vehicle and spotted an individual allegedly riding the motorcycle.

He followed the rider until they reached the vicinity of the Border Control of the Bacolod City Mobile Force Company along Circumferential Road in Barangay Mandalagan.

Personnel of Police Station 3 of the BCPO responded and subsequently apprehended the suspect.

The suspect, a male of legal age and a resident of Bacolod City, was taken into police custody for proper disposition and further investigation.

Police have not disclosed the identity of the suspect pending the filing and processing of the appropriate charges.

The BCPO reminded motorcycle owners and motorists to take precautionary measures to prevent vehicle theft.

These include removing ignition keys, properly locking vehicles, parking in secure and well-lit areas, and using additional security devices and CCTV cameras whenever available.

Police authorities also urged the public to immediately report missing vehicles and suspicious activities to the nearest police station or other authorities.

The arrest, according to the BCPO, highlights the continuing efforts of police personnel and the community to work together in addressing criminal incidents and protecting lives and property./PN
