BACOLOD City — Five more business establishments in Barangay Taculing here were ordered closed by the Business Permits and Licensing Office (BPLO) and the City Legal Enforcement Unit on August 18 for operating without the required business permits.
Levy Pangue, team leader of the City Legal Office’s (CLO) Enforcement Unit, said the closure orders were issued after the establishments failed to comply with requirements stated in the second notices served to them for the processing of their business permits.
“They have been operating without the required business permits for a long time already,” Pangue said.
The establishments were engaged in the sale of groceries, dry goods and food.
Pangue said the closure orders form part of the city government’s continuing enforcement campaign against businesses operating without the necessary permits.
Earlier, at least 19 establishments that had been ordered closed were allowed to resume operations after securing their business permits.
City Legal Office head Karol Joseph Chiu said the city would continue enforcing closure orders against non-compliant establishments.
“Once we receive a closure recommendation report from the BPLO, we will enforce it,” Chiu said.
The city government has intensified its crackdown on establishments operating without the required permits to promote compliance with local regulations and ensure a fair business environment for law-abiding entrepreneurs.
Officials said the campaign applies to all businesses, regardless of their size or prominence.(WDJ)/PN
