BCPO director may face relief over ‘unsolved killings’

ILOILO City – The Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) director may be relieved from his post for failing to solve murder incidents.

Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) director, Police Brigadier General Rolando Miranda is looking into the peace and order situation of Bacolod City after the series of killings there, victimizing four persons, including a nine-year-old boy, in this month alone.

Miranda recently scolded Police Colonel Manuel Placido, BCPO chief, for being “helpless” in preventing the killings and for “failure” to solve such cases.

Miranda said he can recommend Placido’s relief to the national office.

“I can only recommend. The order will come from Camp Crame. Baka mag-recommend ako ng kanyang relief pero hanap muna tayo ng replacement if may order na,” said Miranda.

The PRO-6 was alarmed by the killings of drug personalities, a minor and a police officer in less than 30 days.

The latest was on Sept. 22. A pedicab driver was shot dead in Purok Boulevard, Barangay 13.

On Sept. 21, 73-year-old Aurelio Rull and his nine-year-old adopted grandson were stabbed to death.

On Sept. 20, a handcuffed Mark Anthony Cubos of Aguinaldo Street was found with 26 gunshot wounds in Barangay Banago.

A placard was recovered beside him with the words, “El vigilante drug lord warrior” and “segeha pa, segeha pa, segeha nyo pa, INTERES PA LANG NI SA SINI NGA BULAN”.

On Aug. 31, drug suspect Glenn Paul Castillo of Barangay Cabug was shot, stabbed and beheaded on Rosario Street, Barangay 38.

His head was recovered almost three kilometers away in Purok Sigay, Barangay 2.

Eight people were last seen with Castillo before the incident.

Police recovered several empty .9mm and .45 bullet casings from the crime scene.

On Aug. 29, Police Staff Sergeant Joseph Nepomoceno, member of the City Drug Enforcement Unit of BCPO, was shot to death by riding-in-tandem suspects.

He died of multiple gunshot wounds.

The motorcycle-riding Nepomoceno was in civilian clothes./PN
