BACOLOD City-The Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) has received the seven units of police patrol cars from this city, last week.
Mayor Evelio Leonardia turned over the vehicles to Colonel Thomas Joseph Martir, acting city director of BCPO, held at the Bacolod City Government Center grounds.
The seven patrol cars received by the BCPO are the first batch of the 14 patrol cars being purchased by this city for BCPO.
Martir said that the first seven patrol cars were distributed to police stations 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, and 8.
The mayor said, “These cars will primarily be used for our peace and order. I am also happy that these came out during the time that there is an increase in our crime volume.”
The cars will also help the new police director to “hit the ground running” and was the priority of then BCPO head Colonel Manuel Placido, Leonardia added.
“Our goal here is to help; we are supposed to work together and assist them in any way we can. The BCPO can use the patrol cars any time to improve police visibility and mobility, “the local chief executive stressed.
Martir said he prioritized giving the patrol cars to busy police stations, especially the big ones.
The director further noted that the patrol cars will further uplift the police’s peacekeeping efforts in the city of Bacolod.
“It will also boost our visibility efforts especially since we only have over seven hundred policemen. This will also boost our capabilities so that we can make our patrol cars on standby, which will be a big help,”Martir also said./PN
