ROXAS CITY – This city procured more Molnupiravir, a groundbreaking medicine against disease in 2019 (COVID-19).
According to Mayor Ronnie Dadivas, the city was able to procure 20, 000 more tablets of Molnupiravir which arrived recently.
Last December 2021, the city got 10,000 tablets in anticipation of a possible surge of COVID-19 cases this January 2022.
“Paubos na ang una nga batch sang Molnupiravir Anti-CoVid-19 Pill nga aton guinpreparar. Sa maayo nga palad, wala pa man maubos ang aton suplay, nag abot na ang second batch nga aton guin-order,” siling ni Dadivas.
This city is the first in Western Visayas to secure Molnupiravir.
A bottle cost P2,000, according to Dadivas. The medicine is made available for free to COVID-19 patients confined at the Roxas City Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility (TTMF).
“Gani makasiguro kita nga apisar nagtaas ang kaso may naka-standby na kita nga bulong sa CoVid nga libre nga guinahatag sa mga taga Roxas City nga pasyenti nga yara sa aton CoVid-19 treatment facility. Sila man dapat na-assess nga sulod sa criteria sang aton mga City Health Office Doctors, may mild to moderate nga mga sintomas,” said Dadivas.
Molnupiravir can reduce the risk of hospitalization and death by 30 percent when taken within five days of the onset of symptoms, according to its US-based manufacturer Merck and Ridgeback Biotherapeutics.
