BACOLOD City – The Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) is aiming to sustain what they did during last year’s edition of the MassKara Festival that culminated with no major incident.
On Thursday, September 5, the BCPO led by Colonel Joeresty Coronica and the Site Task Group (STG) MassKara Festival 2024 held an inter-agency coordinating meeting at the conference room of the BCPO to finalize security preparations for the 45th MassKara Festival from October 12 to 27.
They also tackled key issues and concerns crucial to the peaceful and orderly staging of the annual festival.
Von Maungca, interagency committee team leader of the Bacolod Yuhum Foundation, Inc. (BYFI), said the general goal for this year is to maintain and ensure the zero-related incident.
Also part of the meeting was to request the Office of the City Mayor to enact an executive order (EO) for a task group for MassKara Festival 2024 and incorporate safety precautions to kiosk takers.
Maungca added that there was also a proposal to suspend the releasing of firearm licenses and implement signal jamming during the highlights of the festival.
The BYFI is the organizer of the MassKara Festival since 2022.
Meanwhile, the BYFI has assured a vibrant fusion of culture and color at the Bacolod City Public Plaza through the MassKarapat Dapat Sa Plaza.
“Dive into the Caribbean spirit at Bacolod City public plaza as we light up the MassKara Festival with colorful festivities and lively rhythms,” the festival organizer posted on its Facebok page. The public plaza is one of the four festival sites. The three others are Lacson Tourism Strip, Bacolod City Government Center and The Upper East-Megaworld./PN
