BACOLOD City – Senior Superintendent Jack Wanky will deploy police officers in areas considered as “solvent hotspots.”
This was a response to Councilor Em Ang’s request to the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) director.
Ang believes police presence in these areas will lessen the problem on substance abuse.
Street children get money from alms given to them by passersby to buy solvent, Wanky said.
The BCPO head encouraged people to instead donate their money to organizations that support street children.
Wanky said they are now creating an intervention programs for these “Rugby kids.”
Street children were often seen sniffing solvent in abandoned buildings at Plazamart, downtown area, lagoon area, public plaza, Central Market, and Lacson Street.
