BUENAVISTA, Guimaras – Instead of P50, Buenavista Development Cooperative (BDC) will only charge P45.00 new fare rate for people crossing from Iloilo City to Buenavista and vice versa starting March 21.

This was agreed during a meeting last Monday, March 14 with Mayor Eugenio “Eugene” Reyes, Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA), Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), and two other cooperatives Yohan and Buenavista Motorbanca Owners Association of Buenavista (BAMOSA) that travels the same route from Iloilo City to Buenavista and vice versa.

According to Reyes, they decided to make P45.00 as the new fare rate instead of P50.00, considering P50.00 is too high for the commuters and will make a much burden to the passengers.

“Gin-ayu naton nga kon puede P45 lang kay ang problema ang aton mga commuters kay kadaku naman nga palas-anon kon P10. Ti, nagsugot ang BDC paagi sa ila manager nga si Harvey Gustillo,” Reyes said in an interview with Panay News.

But Reyes clarified that only BDC is allowed to implement the P45 new fare rates while Yohan and BAMOSA’s rate will remain at P40 after they first had to file a petition with the MARINA for a fare hike.

“Ina ya sa BDC lang nga masaka sila sa March 21, masarang na sila magsukot sang P45 pero the rest sang associations nga nagabiyahe sa Buenavista subject pa sa petition like BAMOSA and Yohan. Buot silingon ang BDC manukot sang P45 nga pamasahe pero ang BAMOSA and Yohan still P40 until such time maka-file sila sang petition sa MARINA” Reyes added./PN
