SAN JOSE, Antique – The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) and the provincial government’s Agriculture Office distributed equipment to 15 coastal towns in the province.
The distribution was held during the Antique Project Turnover and Fisherfolk Forum on Aug. 24.
The towns were given a 30-footer fiberglass-reinforced plastic patrol boat each.
BFAR also gave 20 units of post-harvest kits to Bugasong, 230 units of seaweed farm implements to Culasi, Pandan and Libertad, 10 units of shallow-water payao to San Jose and Bugasong, and two rainwater-harvesters to Anini-y.
The turnover was attended by BFAR regional director Remia Appari, local executives, representatives, and fisherfolk.
“These projects are still a part of the BFAR programs supporting fisherfolk in Antique,” Appari said.
A forum followed the distribution where issues in the local fishing industry were discussed.
“Makabulig gid eh kamayad kanamun ra, ilabi na gid ang nabaton namun kadya nga mga kilohan ukon banyera,” said fisherfolk Connie Roquero, 50, of Bugasong. (Antique PIO/PN)
