ILOILO City – To rally public support to the campaign against illegal drugs, the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) is leading a bicycle caravan this Dec. 11.

“Sikad Kontra Droga” will be a 45.6-km bicycle parade around the city.

According to ICPO spokesperson, Senior Inspector Shella Mae Sangrines, the caravan will start at Plaza Libertad in the City Proper and end in Barangay Bakhaw, Mandurriao district.

Barangay Bakhaw is considered a haven of illegal drugs by the ICPO and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency.

The first 100 registrants to the “Sikad Kontra Droga” event will get freebies. Registration is free.
Among those invited to participate are cycling enthusiasts from the private sector, employees of national government agencies, and non-government organizations.

“We are doing this to bolster public awareness on the menace of illegal drug,” said Sangrines.
Participants will receive certificates.

A boodle fight will follow the bicycle parade.

“We expect hundreds of participants,” said Sangrines.

The police will also be distributing flyers about the anti-illegal drugs campaign./PN
