SAN JOSE, Antique – Inmates at the San Jose District Jail may soon have a “bigger” and “safer” facility.
The new district jail building is “60-percent complete,” according to the jail warden Superintendent Jhon Montero.
San Jose District Jail has a total of 193 detainees.
The local government — under the administration of Rony Molina — donated the 2,000-square meter lot in Binirayan Hills where the new facility is being built, said Montero.
The Bureau of Jail Management and Penology allotted P3 million for the building and P4 million for the concrete fence.
“We are looking forward to move out from this congested place so our residents can have ample space for physical and personal development and their productivity can be enhanced,” Montero said.
The inmates may also “breathe” and be happier despite their condition when the new compound is ready for occupancy, he said. (PNA)
