BACOLOD City — Two alleged high-value drug personalities were arrested and about 100 grams of suspected shabu worth an estimated P680,000 were seized in a buy-bust operation in Barangay 39, Bacolod City, police said.
The operation was conducted by operatives of Police Station 1 at around 12:35 a.m. on Sept. 4 in Purok Malinong.
Arrested were alias “Sha,” 31, single and unemployed, and alias “Wil,” 22, also single and unemployed. Both are residents of Barangay Banago, Bacolod City, according to police.
The Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR) said the operation stemmed from intelligence reports identifying “Sha” and his alleged cohort as among those involved in the distribution of illegal drugs in several areas of Bacolod, including Barangays 2, 3, 8, 10, 39, Banago and Singcang-Airport.
Police said the suspects allegedly used a “kaliwaan” scheme, in which payment and delivery of illegal drugs were made simultaneously. Transactions were reportedly facilitated through digital payment platforms, according to PRO-NIR.
Recovered during the operation were one elongated sachet of suspected shabu believed to be the buy-bust item, three elongated sachets and two knot-tied plastic bags containing suspected shabu, and five large heat-sealed sachets.
Police also recovered a black coin purse, a black pouch and the P1,000 buy-bust money.
The suspects remain in police custody pending the filing of charges for alleged violations of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002./PN
